The Pre-OSOH Championship Interview!

Saturday December the 3rd, 2016 the Open Series of Hearthstone Final will take place in Theater Castellum in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, during the Dutchrank E-sports Championships! For this big event sixteen participants have qualified themselves by finishing high or winning at OSOH tournaments that have been organised for an extended period of time. Here we want to let you know more about all the participants!

The eleventh person we would like to introduce to you is A4Papier. His name is Francois, he is 21 years old and lives in Goirle which is close to Tilburg. He has two little brothers of 19 and 13 years of age. His hobbies obviously include Hearthstone, but besides that he also plays a lot of poker with his friends and loves to go to some cool party’s.

Francois already played a lot Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft, so when Hearthstone was there he had to give it a try. He also played Magic the Gathering before playing Hearthstone and this gave him some advantage when he started this game. In the Hearthstone scene Rdu is by far Francois’ favorite player. He just likes the way Rdu thinks about the game and makes his line of plays. He thinks Rdu is also a very good streamer. He may not be the most entertaining one but according to Francois Rdu is one of the most educational streamers out there, a really consistent player and he has a good personality.

The OSOH Tournament is coming up and Francois will be preparing for it by testing decks and match-ups with his teammates from Emperor and some other practice partners. “Also just talking with friends about some decks and cards really helps with preparing for a tournament. At the moment I’m kinda double prancing since DreamHack Winter is just before the OSOH final so there is a lot going on!”. Francois thinks strong and weak points of a player really depend on what meta the game is in at that moment. For example, some people are really good control players while others are better with aggro decks. Personally he thinks his strong points in Hearthstone are to really analyse the meta as it is and build his line-up around it. “You will almost always see me with some crazy deck or cards in my line up.” He thinks his weak points are more on a personal level since he sometimes can be triggered by the aspect of the RNG in the game, also known as the Random Number Generator which is a big element in the game Hearthstone.

In a few years Francois hopes he will be streaming Hearthstone for eight or more hours a day, but he will just see where it goes. His advice for beginning Hearthstone players is to just do it! “The game is really fun and not too hard to get into. Just play with friends or people you meet online. The Dutch community is really cool so you can always ask somebody for help or deck lists etc. It just takes a lot of time and practice. I believe everybody can become a pro player!”. Meeting new people and having a nice talk is what the Fireside Gatherings are for, so when you see Francois at a fireside, he would really like it when you approach him for a chat!

We want to thank Francois for taking the time to answer our questions and wish him the best of luck at the Open Series of Hearthstone Final! Everybody who wants to watch A4Papier in action should come to our Open Series of Hearthstone Final at the Dutchrank E-sports Championships on December 3rd in Alphen aan den Rijn!
